naturalized area.
We will be posting in the next day or so all the input received from residents in Mile-End about what to do with the Mile-End Meadow…but I thought I would quickly link to this cool little example from Windsor, Ontario.
Windsor is apparently having a city workers strike, and so abandoned lots (oh, how we adore thee, abandoned lots!) have been really benefiting from the absence of lawn-mower crazy city-worker types.
In other words, the abandoned fields — left alone entirely — are turning into lovely little pieces of (urban) nature (go figure).
The folks at Broken City Lab have been going around to these abandoned lots and putting up pretty little signs like this one:

…apparently, word on the street is that after the strike, about 30% of these areas are supposed to be left in their wild state…
huh!
Is there anyone in Mile-End willing and able to make something like this for our field?
