st-viateur est, closed for community commingling.

(This image has nothing to do with Mile-End, but it makes me laugh.)
In case you haven’t heard, St-Viateur Est will be closed to traffic — and therefore open to people!! — on Saturday, September 26th.
The official reason is to take part in the Journées des la culture events, but the unofficial reason is to have space where all our friends and neighbours can come out and play…talk, picnic, play music, make art, sell stuff, give stuff away, look at people, flirt, whatever!
We have already programmed a certain amount of activities, but we are hoping that everyone and anyone who wants to set something up will do so.
The block between Casgrain and De Gaspé will be our artists zone, where we will have any and all who would like to display their art (or crafts), or just set up a working area to make stuff outside. If folks want to sell their goods, that’s fine with us!
The block between St-Dominique and Casgrain will be turned into a big green space, hopefully with a bunch of sod laid down for folks to lay around on, for kids to play on, and to otherwise green up a pretty concrete heavy part of Mile-End.
The block between St-Laurent and St-Dominique will have music, and any more active or acrobatic sorts of art (capoeira, cirque, dance, you name it).
There will also be a number of community groups around sharing their stories and information, and we are hoping this whole get together will be mix of art and community …
… so, if you have any ideas for inclusion, please get in touch with us so we can make sure there is a bit of space and organization for your stuff. Anything and eveything is welcome, so please be in touch.
