So our little Mile-End à ciel ouvert took place yesterday, which was largely inspired by our earlier forays into the beauty of the whole park(ing) phenomenon…

This time we went a little overboard, though. Instead of taking over a parking spot, or a mini-block, we decided to occupy the entire length of St-Viateur Est. And we’re glad we did!

There was yoga on the grass, accompanied by some lovely atmospheric live music.

We had our little community section, to engage people in discussions about the future of Mile-End Meadow and the neighbourhood in general.

Diane had a great kiosk talking about her upcoming exploration of urban apiculture, school in horticulture and other green-thumb inspirations.

There was a whole block of artists, their works, and art made live.

…the field was full of activity all afternoon and night. The Mile-End Memories tours looked very well attended….

And I don’t have images, but Mile-End Meadow hosted film screenings once the sun fell.

Marie from Scopetrack created a little livingroom to introduce the filmmakers to the public, there were hay bales for the audience, there were trains going by in the night, crickets (real or recorded) trilling their little night-time hearts out, and the whole space was absolutely magical.

More pictures of the St-Viateur Est block party to come, I hope. …just a quick note to say that it happened, and it was great!

If you have photos you could share with us, please be in touch (st.viateur.est@gmail.com)…we were so busy running around helping out with logistics we had no time to take photos! Thanks!
